Well, we're at it again!
The latest project to appear from the depths of the KSCG works is the new website for Birmingham author A.R. Kirby, who is promoting his new novel by publishing it episodically on his arkirby.com website.
The site is the writing site for Kitchen Sink Creative Group's own Richard Kirby, who is using the internet to generate interest in the new novel. Committed focuses on the lives of an Alabama couple in their 40s who are given superhuman powers and a charge to save the world. It is a tale that is humorous, touching, and quite often absurd.
"I like to think of it as a cross between Douglas Adams' great Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance thrown in for good measure," Kirby said. "It's a fun book to write, and I hope it will be a fun one to read."
Jean and Richard at KSCG primarily used DotNetNuke and Photoshop to build the site. The DotNetNuke capabilites made the site relatively easy to construct. Content currently includes some of Kirby's other writings from previous years, as well as an exclusive excerpt from Committed.
"This is just the beginning of the site," Kirby said. "New content, including new episodes of Committed, will be posted each week. I think I'll be doing some work soon on how Birmingham can turn the current energy crisis into opportunity, as well as some pieces on the upcoming Presidental election. That ought to be fun."
Committed will begin publishing with Chapter 1 -- Episode 1 arriving July 14, exclusively on arkirby.com.
